The FLS is actually an ecological model farm dedicated for the resource poor farmers in the rain fed regions of Tamil Nadu.
Crops, animals found in the site (if farm) and methods, techniques applied:
Milching Cows and Calf, Bulls, Sheep, Country Chicken. In day time, they allowed for free grazing and in the night they are settled in cages and cattle shed constructed in the FLS. The droppings have been converted into compost, vermicompost, Amirtha Karaisal Mixtures, Panchakaviya and other bio inputs and organic pest repellent mixtures. The FLS has fodder trees, azolla and fodder grasses for cattle. To enhance the output of milk and increase egg size, the cattle and chicken have been fed with Azolla.

Different units at the FLS help in bringing sustainable income at different times. We have nursery units and there seedlings of different tree species having values on timber, fodder, fruit, herbs. The FLS has a live/bio fence which helps in attracting wild animals and birds and they helps to promote agro ecology and do ecological pest management. The herbs in the fence used for common ailments like cold, cough, fever, headache and joint pains. The FLS have an agro forestry unit with multiple tree species. The FLS have soil and water harvesting structures like bunds, trenches, farm ponds and fish ponds. The FLS is also having a library and documentation centre with more than 10000 books, journals and magazines related to agriculture, animal husbandry, ecology, bio diversity, health, cultivation methods of different crops, soil and water conservation techniques.
