CGFED is a Vietnamese local NGO working in the field of social science since 1993. CGFED brings together a team of national and international scientists to conduct research and action research, contributing to solve issues on gender, family, and environment in development in Vietnam.
CGFED acts for Gender Equality based on Freedom, Diversity, and Human Rights via three main areas:
1. Gender Equality in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
2. Gender Justice in Substainable Environment
3. Gender Sensitivity in Media and Education
Our main activities include:
– Empowerment of disadvantaged groups, like ethnic minorities (EMs), women and children, adolescents, through promotion of gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
– Action to tackle rural poverty, community empowerment and policy advocacy for pesticide use reduction; Gender and mining: status and campaign strategy needs for communities affected by mining; Gender issues and heavy metals (lead, mercury, etc.) and other chemicals: Advocating for policies to eliminate the presence of heavy metals and harmful chemicals in consumer products affecting the health of people, especially women and children.
– Promoting Gender sensitivity in media and education, contribute to abolishing gender stereotype in media and education. Use media and education as the powerful tool to change inequality in society.
CGFED is proud to be a member of PANAP, a regional network linked with PAN International that works with CSOs and farmer’s, women, agricultural workers, pastoralists and indigenous people’s organisations and movements as well as academic institutions. Since joining PAN-AP network, CGFED have been benefited with capacity buildings and trainings on pesticide impacts, agroecology and women’s leadership to support and promote our local communities with their improved awareness and capacity towards gender equality, proactively apply agroecology practices and reduce pesticide use.
