Ecopro Training Centre (ETC) is an ecologically integrated farm, dedicated to restoring ecosystems. It is located in the poor rural Kampung area, with mostly paddy farmers and goat farming.
Fostering a harmonious relationship with nature through various sustainable practices and educational initiatives, it is powered by a vision to become a community learning centre that bridges local and scientific knowledge to share with local communities and empower them on ecosystem restoration and climate action.
Led by Dr. Mahamad Hakimi Ibrahim, the centre emphasizes learning from and designing with nature, promoting principles of permaculture and eco-friendly technologies. It also runs a series of eco school activities for underprivileged students to learn with and about Nature. Their work has helped reduce fish waste from the fishery, increase soil fertility, and they make sure their operations do not contribute to odor pollution in the community.
ETC offers opportunities for volunteers, interns, and researchers interested in ecological restoration and sustainable agriculture. It focuses on organic farming methods like the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), composting, vermiculture using African Night Crawlers, and using ducks and geese for pest control and soil fertility.
