Kivatu Nature Farm (KNF) is an IPAM agroecology field learning site in Sabah, Malaysia, that promotes organic agriculture and protects traditional and indigenous farming practices, believing that they are inherently sustainable and offer ways of feeding their communities that are safe for both people and the environment.

To help shift agriculture practices in Sabah to sustainable models of food production, KNF has been actively training communities of grassroots farmers, gardeners, students, children and senior citizens in natural farming methods, composting and organic fertilizer making, and herb growing.

KNF also acts as a propagation venue for various traditional plants, flowers, vegetables and citrus trees of which seedlings are then sold to the community at a low price. It works to conserve Sabah’s diversity and reduce food miles to promote food security.

Recently KNF has been able to establish a community product collection center and a community product processing center. Through the collection center, KNF sells the fresh harvest or processed goods of its partner farming communities, while the processing house conducts training on various food processing techniques.

KNF is a partner of PACOS, which considers organic agriculture as a means for the socio-economic growth of indigenous peoples in Malaysia.
