In the historic barangay of Rawis in Dulag, Leyte, in the Philippines, members of the Rawis Farm Animal Developers and Planters Association (RAFADAPA) actively took part in the MASIPAG Orientation on Sustainable Agriculture. The association aims to strengthen its organic farming initiatives by collecting, conserving, and reproducing traditional, diverse, and climate-resilient varieties of rice, corn, and vegetables, while reinforcing unity and collective action among its members.
Several young participants also attended the orientation and shared their interest in expanding their knowledge and skills in farming, expressing their willingness to support RAFADAPA’s ongoing activities.

The orientation featured an insightful discussion on the current national state of agriculture, highlighting how the prevailing food system and profit-driven economy tend to benefit only a select few. The vital role of small-scale sustainable farming was underscored as a key driver of innovation, food security, and improved quality of life for farmers and their communities.
